J-1 Immigration Information
A
J-1 student is a non-U.S. citizen who is enrolled
full-time in a non-degree prescribed course of study at an
accredited educational institution.
Employment
In order to work, all visa
holders must receive the proper authorization. Students
must meet with Krittika Onsanit before accepting employment on
or off campus. For specific information about employment
procedures click
here. Visiting scholars
should consult with the Office of the International Education before
engaging in any employment, occasional lecture or consultation outside of
the University.
Academic Training
Academic training is permitted while
the student is enrolled in school or after completion of studies. Completion
of studies is the program end date of the exchange program as indicated
on the DS-2019. Internships during the
semester must be approved at least 1 week in advance of the internship start date. A student
applying for academic training for an internship that takes place after
the completion of the exchange program must be authorized by the
Responsible Officer (RO) to participate in academic training by the end date of the DS-2019.
