Parents of International Students
The
Office of International Education understands that parents of
international students may have special concerns about their son or
daughter's well-being during his or her time in the United States. As the first
campus resource for international students, the Office of
International Education has established
emergency
procedures for students to follow. New international students also attend a
mandatory information session during orientation on safety in the United States.
The University of
Richmond has its own
Police Department,
which conducts a variety of services and activities on campus along with law
enforcement. If you suspect your
son or daughter is in danger or having an emergency, call the Police Department
at 1-804-289-8715 (or 1-804-289-8911). For general questions, you can email

The
Student Health Center
offers on-campus treatment for illness and injury,
including referrals to off-campus sites such as hospitals and specialists if the
student needs assistance not available at the Health Center.
Counseling
and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers free and confidential services for
full-time students. In addition to adjustment or emotional problems, CAPS staff
can help students in solving practical problems involving other offices on
campus, and to understand how the system of services and support works at the
University.
The
Richmond
College Dean's Office for male students and the
Westhampton
College Dean's Office for female students oversees residence life staff, who
are trained in handling student emergencies in the residence halls.
The
Office of Student
Development provides disability services to ensure that students with
disabilities have equal access to a University of Richmond education. The
Office of Student
Development invites parents to subscribe to the
Emergency Email
Service , which informs families via an email alert of campus situations of
immediate concern, as well as
RichmondNow, the University's official online news publication that
contains the latest news and events on campus. These services are free of
charge.
The
Recreation and Wellness Center offers programs, fitness and nutrition
assessments, screenings, and education about a variety of health topics. The
Center also has fitness facilities including a weight room, exercise machines,
pool, and racquetball and squash courts.
The
University
Chaplaincy fosters an interreligious community for students of all faiths or
no faith, and provides grief counseling and community space for reflection and
worship.
