As the director of study
abroad , Michele is responsible for the administrative oversight
of the University's more than 70 study abroad programs. Her
main responsibilities include advising students, overseeing
budgets, compiling statistics, addressing liability issues and
managing more than 20 exchange and study abroad programs in
Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong, Mexico, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand,
and Vietnam. Since coming to the Office of International
Education in 1991, Michele has written and amended exchange
agreements between the University of Richmond and institutions
abroad and coordinated incoming exchange students and outgoing
study abroad students. She is a member of the international
education committee and participates in the host family program.
Michele is a graduate of
Muhlenberg College, but also studied at American University in
Washington, D.C. and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan,
Poland. Previously, she worked at the Experiment in
International Living, the National Endowment for Democracy, and
with the Cyprus America Scholarship Program and the West
Bank/Gaza Project at AMIDEAST. Michele has traveled to more
than 35 countries on five continents.
In her free time, Michele
likes to spend time with her daughter, Sarah, travel, and attend
cultural events around Richmond
