Weinstein Grants for Summer International Projects

International Education offers merit-based grants for international projects or internships undertaken abroad during the summer. These grants are intended to foster and support a wide range of innovative ideas and activities that will enrich applicants' knowledge and appreciation of other cultures, contribute to the international identity of the University of Richmond, and productively engage the community and organization where the project will be located.

Students should apply for Weinstein Grant funding via the UR Summer Fellowships page. Selected applicants will receive assistance with airfare costs.

In the case of staff and faculty, grants will be limited to $3,500 per person and may only be accessed by submitting original receipts. Staff and faculty, please note that you may not receive the total amount you request. Amounts awarded are based on available funding.

All full-time, continuing students, faculty, and staff are eligible to apply.

Students

Students should apply for Weinstein Grant funding, which if awarded provides assistance for airfare costs, via the UR Summer Fellowships page. Grants will be awarded for international internships or for original project proposals which preferably build on student's previous experience and knowledge. Student athletes who are unable to study abroad during the academic year may also apply for airfare costs for summer international study. Students will be funded only if they will be on campus during the semester following the project.

The University of Richmond does not permit students to use University funds to travel to countries under U.S. Department of State Travel Warnings unless the student has received specific approval from the Office of International Education. Review the University's policy for more information.

Faculty

Faculty members can propose projects related to teaching and/or research, with priority given to those proposals which emphasize a productively mutual engagement between the University of Richmond and the destination country or countries. All full-time teaching faculty are eligible to apply for a Weinstein Grant.
