C. Weinstein Grants for Academic Year
International Projects and Study

The Office of International Education offers grants for international study and projects to be completed during the academic year.  These grants are intended to foster and support a wide range of innovative ideas which will enrich applicants personally and contribute to campus-wide internationalization.

Applicants interested in funding for summer projects should click here for information on applying for a C. Weinstein Grant for Summer International Projects and Study.

Eligibility:

All full-time, continuing students, faculty, and staff are eligible to apply.

Students (click here for application)

1.  Students should propose research or study projects for which they have appropriate
academic background.

2.  Students who propose short-term study abroad (during winter or spring break) must
demonstrate one of the following:
      - Financial need and inability to study abroad on a semester or year program.
      - The short-term program proposed is substantively different from programs offered
        for a semester or year.

Staff (click here for application)

1.  Staff members should propose projects consistent with their duties and focused on
expanding the international dimension of their job.

2.  Time off to complete the projects should be arranged on an individual basis between
the staff member and his or her supervisor prior to submitting the application.

Faculty (click here for application)

1.  Faculty members should propose projects related to teaching and research, including those
leading to the creation of new short-term study abroad programs.

2.  Applications proposing intensive language study aimed at offering LAC sections will be
accepted.

3.  Faculty requesting funds for the development of a course should apply for a
Curriculum
Internationalization Grant.

Grants will be limited to $1000 per person maximum. Collaborative projects between faculty, staff and/or students are strongly encouraged, but will not necessarily amount to multiples of $1000.

Special consideration will be given to projects funded, in part, by other institutional sources.

Procedures:

1.  Applications should be submitted to Cindy Holma in the Office of International Education in
Puryear Hall.  Applications will be accepted at any point during the academic year and will be
reviewed on a rolling basis.

2.  A subcommittee of the International Education Committee, chaired by the Dean of
International Education, will review submissions and award the grants.  The Dean will
notify applicants in writing of the committee’s decision.

3. Upon completion of the project, grant recipients must submit the following to Cindy Holma:
    - A final report including a summary of what was accomplished during the period of
the grant and specific plans for campus internationalization impact.
    - A completed
Travel Expense report including an itemized list of all expenditures.
Original receipts must accompany this report and should be taped to an 8 ½ by 11
      sheet of paper.
    - These reports are due no later than 30 days after the end of the period for which the
      grant was awarded.
