The Peer Advisor is a University of Richmond student who has been trained to assist you in exploring your options for studying abroad and can speak to you in a peer-to-peer environment. She can help you with questions such as:
- How do I choose a program?
- What kinds of things should I consider as I prepare to study abroad?
- How will my credit transfer?
- How much will it cost?
- How do I apply?
- What is it really like to spend a semester or year abroad?
- How can I talk to other students who have studied abroad?
The 2016-2017 Peer Advisor is Jackie Sirc, who studied abroad for a summer and a calendar year (spring/fall). In summer 2014, she participated in a faculty-led summer program to La Rochelle, France. In spring 2015, she studied at Universite de Lausanne, in Switzerland, and then during the fall 2015 semester, she participated in the Parliamentary Programme at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. As an ISPD/French double major, Jackie's study abroad experiences were based in a desire to strengthen her French language skills, experience new cultures, and participate in politics abroad. As a new member of the Office of International Education staff, Jackie hopes to help other students find the right location and program to have an incredible abroad experience. As the Peer Advisor, Jackie wants to encourage students to explore the many options the Office of International Education offers to Richmond students.
