Trader Fund

The J. Edwin Trader Fund was established in 1996 by Rebecca Trader in memory of J. Edwin Trader, an alumnus of the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business, Class of 1960. Mr. Trader and his wife Rebecca offered genuine and selfless friendship to the international students at the University of Richmond.

The Trader Fund enables UR international students on visas to attend events of cultural, literary, musical, artistic, or historic interest such as museums, historical sites, festivals, concerts, theater or other arts performances. Students will have the opportunity to attend one event per academic year.

International students may be reimbursed for admission to one (1) cultural event per academic year. Examples of eligible events include Broadway plays, opera, classical music or jazz concerts, cultural festivals, etc. Admission to rock music concerts, comedy clubs, athletic events and political rallies/events are ineligible for reimbursement. The OIE staff has the right to decide if an event qualifies for the Trader Fund.

The maximum reimbursement per student is $40.00, even if the ticket cost exceeds this amount.

All Trader Fund reimbursements will be issued in U.S. dollars by cash. Students will receive cash reimbursements from the Cashier’s Office, which is located in Sarah Brunet Hall and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.

  1. Notify the Office of International Education about your intent to use the Trader Fund and approximate cost of the ticket.
  2. Purchase your ticket.
  3. Attend the event.
  4. Bring your ticket stub or receipt to the OIE  no more than 30 days after the date printed on the receipt, as well as a completed Trader Fund Request for Reimbursement Form. The OIE is open Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  See deadlines listed below.
