Michael Warchol is UR's inaugural director of communications for the arts, working collaboratively with the Modlin Center, University Museums and the departments of Art and Art History, Music, and Theatre and Dance. In this role he is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the arts across campus and within the Richmond community.
Michael earned a B.A. from Brevard College (North Carolina) and a M.A. from George Mason University. He has extensive experience in marketing, communications, and graphic design working for such notable organizations as American Councils for International Education, the United States Peace Corps, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
A Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Ukraine), Michael speaks Russian and enjoys topics related to cross-cultural communication and cultural integration. Away from the office, he can be found spending time with his wife and three children, gardening, traveling, coaching youth basketball, and playing the euphonium.
