Michael Warchol manages communications and events for the Office of International Education. In this role he is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy for the office—partnering with University of Richmond students, faculty, and staff, along with members of the greater Richmond community. Michael also collaborates regularly with the campus community to organize events that promote international understanding and global engagement.
Michael earned a B.A. from Brevard College (North Carolina) and a M.A. from George Mason University. Prior to Richmond, his work focused on recruitment for study abroad and language immersion programs in Russia, Ukraine, Southeast Europe, and Central Asia. He has extensive experience in marketing, communications, and graphic design (both print and web), having worked for such notable organizations as American Councils for International Education, the United States Peace Corps, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
A Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Ukraine), Michael speaks Russian and enjoys topics related to cross-cultural communication and cultural integration. Away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, carpentry projects, gardening, photography, travel, and playing the euphonium.
