Nuts & Bolts for Internships Abroad
Refund Policy
Each international internship provider has their own refund/cancellation policies. Before signing any agreements, please carefully review their policy:
- ArtBound Initiative terms and conditions (including cancellation policy)
- CIEE terms and conditions (including refund policy)
- COWA terms and conditions (including return policy)
- diiVe terms and conditions (including refund and cancellation policy)
- IES Abroad refund policy
- ISA cancellation policy (ISA internships and all service learning programs)
Costs
Students apply directly to an international internship provider. If approved, students are responsible for paying internship costs directly to the provider.
Funding Application Process
Summer internships are eligible for UR Summer Fellowships (URSF) funding through one of the eight programs, as long as they meet the URSF guidelines. See the URSF guidelines, application details, and deadlines.
Internships outside the U.S. are eligible for Weinstein Summer Grant support. To be eligible for a Weinstein Summer Grant, your URSF application must be approved. Students can apply for the Weinstein Summer Grant through the URSF application portal.
Application deadlines for both awards appear here. Read each program’s application procedure and requirements carefully; only complete applications that fulfill the purpose(s) of the grant will be considered for funding.
To earn academic credit for your internship, you must coordinate with a Richmond faculty member and pay the standard tuition rate. Review the Academic Internship Policy. Any questions regarding this policy should be directed to the Office of the Registrar.
Insurance Abroad
University of Richmond summer abroad programs are covered by the same travel, accident, and sickness insurance policy in effect for UR semester abroad programs.
