ISA Summer Internships

The University partners with International Studies Abroad (ISA) to offer international summer internships in several cities worldwide. ISA is responsible for securing placements and housing assignments. Students interested in applying for an internship through ISA should complete the UR participation form (link available in January).

Students from all majors are eligible to apply. The placements listed below are available, but custom placements may also be made, depending on availability. Discuss your specific internship needs with our Summer School program manager, Cheryl Genovese, at cgenoves@richmond.edu or 804-289-8134.

ISA internships are open to students in all years, including first-years and those who have just graduated. Continuing UR students may be eligible for funding from the UR Summer Fellowships or Weinstein Summer Grants programs.

Global Remote Internship
ISA offers global remote internship placements in the following fields. These experiences allow teams or individuals to be placed in global internships without leaving home.

Interns will be matched with a company in the field that best corresponds to their academic background and professional goals. Projects for each internship vary by career interest and company assignment.

The application deadline for ISA internships starting in May is February 1, 2024. The deadline for internships starting in June is February 15, 2024.

Register Participation with UR

Students who plan to participate in a summer internship abroad must register their participation with UR using GatewayAbroad by February 15, 2024.

Click on the “Register Your Participation” button
Log into GatewayAbroad using your UR NetID and password
Complete the online registration for your program
Contact Cheryl Genovese in the Summer School Office to submit $300 deposit

To earn academic credit for your internship, you must coordinate with a Richmond faculty member and pay the standard tuition rate. Complete the Individual Instruction Course Request form and submit to the Office of the Registrar in Queally Center. Internships completed for college credit may be eligible for federal financial aid. Contact the Financial Aid office for details.

Summer Fellowship Funding

Summer internships abroad may be eligible for UR Summer Fellowship funding, including the Weinstein Summer Grant. Maximum awards: $4,000 UR Summer Fellowships, $3,500 for Weinstein Summer Grants. These opportunities are not available to non-UR students.

Weinstein Summer Grants offer an airfare supplement; complete as needed
